Interview

In my work I explore the limitless potential of sculpting with plate and chiseled glass, more commonly known as a building material and not often explored artistically. I combine traditional tools of stone sculpting with recent technological innovations in bonding glass, hand cutting, chiseling and sanding. My sculptures are welded together acrylic polymers and ultraviolet light.

The resulting forms, often geometrical but also natural, appear light and ethereal despite their weight. The chiseled edges of the sculptures reflect and refract ambient light; continuously interacting with the interior planes of the works as well as their environment. Rather than being a static mass, my sculptures provide the viewer with a constantly changing panorama of color and light.
