RE: "Tikkun" sculpture

Dear Henry,

I am pleased to give you my assessment and thoughts concerning your large glass sphere sculpture entitled "Tikkun" that I saw at the Sculpture, Object and Functional Art Show in Chicago last November. As the Emeritus Curator of the American Decorative Arts and Sculpture Department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, I have many years of experience in assessing the quality and significance of sculpture.

I told you at the show that I thought this work was a masterpiece. The visual impact of this sculpture is almost overwhelming because of its size and material composition. The sphere towers over the audience, yet the transmittance of light through the glass prevents the sculpture form assuming the visual mass of a solid object. Technically, the construction of the sculpture is astonishing. It is obvious that the piece required extensive mathematical calculations and attention to detail to result in the form of a perfect six-foot in diameter sphere. The message of the sculpture, that good deeds help to heal the world, is intriguing.

In my opinion, this work is a significant work of art and would be appropriate for a museum exhibition or a corporate collection.

Sincerely,

Jonathan L. Fairbanks -- Senior Vice President of Museum & Historical Affiliations
